India is mind-blowing in every respect. I have never seen so much poverty. Nevertheless progress is visible and you can find farmers on there cow driven vehicles loaded with hay talking on their mobile phone. Despite the new shopping malls and mobile phones poverty remains prevalent and you can find children searching through the rubbish and enormous slums that are melodious and lack every basic infrastructure. The city where I live has two million inhabitants - a small city by Indian standards. I have not met one white person in the time I am here and because white guys are so rare I am the attraction wherever I go. The other day i had 100! youngsters jumping around me in excitement to see me- certainly a unique expierence! But has you can find stupid people everywhere and I live in a bad area I have also faced difficult situations. Talking about my area, every now and then rats come into my room and the other night one even jumped into my bed when I was sleeping...after a time you learn to live with everything even if this means a rat in your bed or the smell of excrements because the local sanitation ends in the rivulet that flows in front of your window...
